James the Saxophone Player is a citizen of Halloween Town, he is a zombie and a member of the town band. In the beginning of the movie, he tells Jack, "Nice work, bone-daddy", complimenting him on another successful Halloween. Also, James tells the Mayor that Jack hasn't been home all night after he unsuccessfully tries to rouse Jack from his house. During Making Christmas, the Harlequin Demon uses him as a mannequin to make a rat into a hat. When Jack was blown up by the military army, he was heartbroken along with the Mayor and other citizens as they mourn him. And he was playing his saxophone when he is happy to see Jack again. James is voiced in the movie by Greg Proops.
